Artist, Architect

Don Krotee has been drawing and painting from an early age. There was a time, as an adolescent, Don mixed color and assisted his grandmother, a successful amateur artist in New York. She, in turn, taught him the draw and paint. He is trained and educated as an architect and has a great deal of experience doing illustrations associated with his architectural practice. This is a commonality among architects who are or have become artists.

Don paints primarily en plein air and has a studio in Corona del Mar, an event gallery, and an architectural firm in Anaheim Hills. Don renewed his interest in transparent and other watercolor styles in the 90’s and by the early 2000’s, up to the onset of COVID, had many shows in The Artists Village and his own gallery in Santa Ana. In the ‘90’s Don had started showing and submitting his work to regional societies and accepting commissioned work professionally.
